OTEC (Father) by Lukas Hanulak

OTEC (Father) from Lukas Hanulak on Vimeo.

The question of life and death is an ineffable phrase, almost impossibe to grasp. People face it every second and it is always painful for someone. Even more, if you are a parent and you outlive your own child. Or if it is likely to happen. The film Otec (Father) is a spiritual drama about an ordinary man, who is losing his only child. The story tells us about useless conflicts in our lives, and shows the depth of human soul.

The Top 10 Ways to Stay Stylish and Look Great at 98

via The Huffington Post

2011-02-22-IMG_92481.JPG.jpeg

A few months back, I had the wonderful opportunity to interview an amazingly stylish 98-year-old woman by the name of Rose. I first met her when I stopped to take her photo off of Madison Ave. She told me that she never allows anyone to take her picture, and she is not quite sure why she decided to say yes to me that fateful day. After she appeared on Advanced Style, her grandchildren emailed me telling me that Rose loved her picture and that I could come by her place and ask a few questions about her life and style! Even more inspiring than Roses' fantastic fashion sense is her positive outlook on life: enjoy every moment and be happy with what you have. At 98, she has more vitality and spirit than most people half her age. Check below for some of her cherished fashion secrets.
Here are Rose's top ten beauty and lifestyle secrets on how to look and feel great at 98:

1. Find your perfect perfume; people will remember you by your scent. Rose is known for her Pauline Trigere fragrance. She tells her granddaughter, "I'll give you anything in the world, but I won't give you my perfume."

2. Belts and Beads. Rose believes that a belt or unique strand of beads can really make an outfit, and they don't have to cost a fortune.

3. Take care of your feet and wear good shoes, but when you are going out for a night on the town, "Fashion comes before comfort." At 98, Rose goes out every single night!

4. "Walking is a must, it's better than doctors or medicine."

5. No need to use expensive moisturizers; Rose swears by Oil of Olay, which she has been using for decades.

6. "Inexpensive lipstick is as good as expensive, only better!" Rose has tried every brand from Chanel to Lauder and has recently been turned on to Revlon.

7. Be Unique: "If Everyone is wearing it, then its not for me."

8. "Be smart enough to know what you don't know."

9. If you have trouble reading the dinner menu, lorgnettes are a fashionable and elegant alternative to reading glasses.

10. "Be happy, enjoy what you have at every moment!"

DANIEL DAY LEWIS, The Bad Ass

As an actor, Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis has won two Academy Awards and blown the mind of anyone who ever enjoyed a milkshake with his Kubrick-esque portrayal of Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood.

His was the face that launched a thousand memes.

The Badass:
We're actually not sure if he's badass or just insane. Daniel Day-Lewis never met a role that he didn't become in real life.
Boxer, butcher/street brawler, wheelchair-bound cerebral palsy sufferer, last Mohican, Puritan preacher, all of them. He became all those things. For the 1997 film The Boxer, for example, he trained with former boxing world champion Barry McGuigan, who later remarked that Day-Lewis "could have turned professional" by the time their training was over.

It's really tough to figure out at which point he is acting.

For his performance as Christy Brown in My Left Foot, Day-Lewis refused to leave his wheelchair and had to be spoon-fed by the crew. For The Last of the Mohicans, he lived off the land for six months. He slept in an abandoned jail and ate only prison food for In The Name of the Father. For The Crucible, he "lived in the film set's replica village without electricity or running water" and built his character's house using 17th-century tools.

This man has spent a lot of time pooping in the woods.

The dude actually worked in a butcher shop to prepare for the character Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York, caught pneumonia after refusing to change out of his period clothing and spent most of his time off-camera sharpening knives, which he learned how to throw with deadly accuracy. While still in character and, from the sound of it, in costume, Daniel/Bill the Butcher reportedly traipsed about picking fights with strangers during the filming of Gangs of New York.

That pipe ended up in some thugs colon more than once.
